REcon Electronic Badge
The REcon 2025-2026 electronic badge was designed and produced by Electronic Cats.
Overview
Attendees receive two boards, both released together at REcon 2026. The base board was originally designed for REcon 2025 but arrived late, so it ships this year alongside the new LoRa add-on:
- Base board ("REcon 2025" design) - RP2040-based, SSD1306 OLED, 4 buttons, with NFC and Magspoof applications.
- LoRa add-on ("REcon 2026" design) - CH32V203 RISC-V board with a Semtech SX1262 radio. Works either as a daughter PCB on top of the base board, or as a standalone device powered over USB-C.
Hardware
- MCU: CH32V203 (RISC-V, native USB)
- Radio: Semtech SX1262 LoRa transceiver
- Antenna: PCB-embedded
- User LEDs: 3 × WS2812 addressable RGB
- User input: 4 × push buttons
- USB: USB Type-C (power + data)
- Host interface: Pin header to connect as a daughter PCB to the 2025 badge
Schematics, PCB and footprints are published as KiCad projects. Firmware is split by target MCU: CH32V203 for the 2026 board itself, RP2040 for the 2025 host when the 2026 board is plugged in as a daughter PCB.
